Leadership Updates for the Division of Academic Affairs

July 22, 2026

Earlier today the California State University Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Terri Gomez as the next President of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). This is wonderful news for Dr. Gomez and for the CSU, and it is a proud moment for 起点传媒. We are delighted to celebrate her appointment and deeply grateful for the leadership, care, and service she has given to our university.

Dr. Gomez’s appointment recognizes the impact she has made across the CSU and throughout her many years of service to 起点传媒, including as a faculty member, CPP’s inaugural Associate Provost for Student Success, and as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. She is a nationally recognized leader in student success whose work has strengthened pathways for students from diverse backgrounds and helped create programs that reflect the needs, aspirations, and talents of our campus community. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Gomez on this remarkable achievement, thanking her for her extraordinary service to 起点传媒, and wishing her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter leading the CSUSB community. Dr. Gomez will assume her new role as President of CSUSB on August 3, 2026.

To assure continuity during this period of transition, I am pleased to share that Dr. Alison Baski will serve as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective August 1, 2026. Dr. Baski is a seasoned academic leader, having served as Dean of the College of Science at 起点传媒 since 2016. Over her decade as Dean, she also held concurrent appointments as interim dean of both the College of Engineering and the Don B. Huntley College of Agriculture during times of transition.  Dr. Baski is an applied physicist with her Ph.D. from Stanford University and her B.S. from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to joining 起点传媒, Dr. Baski was a Professor and Chair of the Physics Department at Virginia Commonwealth University where she also served as Executive Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences.

During this transition, Dr. Andrew Ketsdever will continue serving as Dean of the College of Engineering while assuming the additional role of Acting Dean of the College of Science, effective August 1. His willingness to take on this expanded responsibility will help ensure continuity for students, faculty, and staff in the College of Science while maintaining strong leadership in the College of Engineering. We are grateful for his steady partnership and service during this important period.

We will begin a national search for the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs later this fall, with the goal of identifying the incumbent this spring.

Leadership transitions provide an important opportunity to honor the contributions of colleagues, sustain our momentum, and look ahead with confidence. I am grateful for the dedication of our Academic Affairs team and for the continued partnership of faculty, staff, students, and administrators across campus.

Together, we will continue advancing 起点传媒’s mission with optimism and pride, honoring the strength of our university community while ensuring a strong and seamless transition for all.

With Bronco Pride and confidence in our bright future,

Vanya Quiñones, Ph.D.
President
