Who I am.

I am deeply committed to advancing construction engineering and management through research, education, and service. My research focuses on project delivery methods, contracts and procurement, risk management, and cost and quality management. I have led or collaborated on more than 20 nationally and state-funded research projects sponsored by organizations such as the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine—including NCHRP and ACRP—the National Science Foundation, the Construction Industry Institute, and several state departments of transportation.

This work has contributed to national guidebooks, legal research digests, an ASCE book on alternative project delivery methods, and more than 75 peer-reviewed publications. I have presented my research at major conferences, including the Construction Research Congress, the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting, and the American Society for Engineering Education Annual Conference. I also regularly contribute as an invited speaker, editor, and expert panelist for professional organizations such as the Design-Build Institute of America and the Transportation Research Board.

As an educator for more than a decade, I have taught foundational and advanced courses in construction engineering and management. My teaching integrates real-world industry collaboration, active learning, and experiential opportunities such as micro-internships and PolyX. I have also contributed extensively to curriculum development, ABET accreditation, and graduate education within the Civil Engineering Department. I have also represented the College of Engineering in the Academic Senate through several leadership and committee roles, including the Faculty Affairs Committee, General Education Committee, and Executive Committee, as well as Vice Chair of the Academic Senate.

Before entering academia, I worked in the industry in contract administration, procurement, and project coordination on multimillion-dollar infrastructure projects in the power and aviation sectors, including work for a Bechtel subsidiary.
