About Me

Mary Anne Mendoza is an Associate Professor of Political Science at CPP. Dr. Mendoza is the current advisor for the Model OAS team that travels to Washington DC every Spring semester. She also serves as the Advisor for several clubs including Barkada (the largest Filipinx-American organization on campus),  Sportsfest, & Touzan Taiko. Her research focuses on colonial education policies & separatist rebellion in the Philippines & Burma. Her broader research agenda examines the legacies of empire & the development of nationalism across Southeast Asia. She is currently working on an edited volume concerning descriptive research in Political Science & has published several pieces on pedagogy & mentorship in the discipline.

She holds a Ph.D. & MA in Political Science from UC Irvine & a BA in Political Science with a minor in International Studies from the University of La Verne. She maintains a strong relationship with her alma mater, serving on the Alumni Advisory Board for ULV. She is a former Senior Pedgagogical Fellow of the Division of Teaching Excellence & Innovation at UC Irvine. She currently serves as co-organizer of the & Co-Conver for the network. 

Aside from her teaching experience across several universities, Dr. Mendoza has completed advanced pedagogical training & facilitated workshops for both faculty & graduate students on course design, assessment, active learning, & diversity training. She also has several years of experience in private tutoring at the high school & undergraduate level along with nearly a decade of experience in college advising.
