Footer Instructions

Required Modules

The following is the new CPP web template for a college/department footer. Use this as an interactive guide to collect all the content you will need for your page, and you will be set up for success during the content entry process in Cascade.

Below is an example of a CPP Department Footer you can add to your webpage.

For this section, you will need:

  • Department Name
  • Optional: Department Information
    • Building Name
    • Building Map Link
    • Phone Number
    • Email
  • Optional: Social Media Links

Learn about adding a footer to your Cascade page.

To edit a footer in Cascade, start by going to the inc folder in the ggd.[your site name] or ggc.[your site name] menu. Then, click on the footer template.

 

On the footer page, press Edit.

Cascade View (Editing Mode)

Department Name:

Department Name will come from the root site folder labeled ggd.[your site name] or ggc.[your site name] menu. To change it, right-click the folder, press Edit, and change the title field.

Department Information:

Here you can include your department's building and contact information.

  • Building Name: Enter the Department's Building Name
  • Building Map Link: Refer to the instructions below to find the Building Map Link 
  • Phone: Enter the Department Phone Number
  • Email: Enter the Department's Email

Next, copy the link and paste it into the Building Map Link field.

Social Media: 

Insert your department's social media page links. This includes Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, X, TikTok, and Vimeo. If the social media link field is left empty, the icon will not appear in your footer.

Cascade View (Viewing Mode)

Cascade viewing mode refers to viewing a footer block page in Cascade CMS outside of editing mode. In viewing mode, the system displays how the footer block is rendered based on the current site structure and applied formats. It allows users to see the output of the footer block—typically a list of links—without making changes to its configuration or content.

Below is an example of a footer layout page with example links on how the page would be structured from the Cascade viewpoint, previewing the Department Name, Department Information, and Social Media Links.

 Cascade View (Editing Mode)

After making changes to your footer, you must publish your updates.

First, navigate to your footer page and click Edit at the top right.

After opening the Edit window, click the 3 dots at the top right. This will give you the option to start a workflow so that you can publish your changes to the footer.

Your footer only needs to be published once, since publishing applies the changes to all footers across your website. Republish only if the footer information is updated.

 Cascade View (Editing Mode)

To incorporate a footer module on a page, follow these steps:

1. Click Edit to enter Editing Mode for the page.

2. Scroll to the bottom where it asks, "Add College/Department Footer?" Toggle Yes.

3. In the Content Block field, choose the appropriate footer. The sample below shows the footer block labeled "department-footer" being used as a demonstration.

4. Save your changes to the block and click Submit to 起点传媒 the update to the page.

5. Optionally, Preview the page to make sure the footer module is displaying correctly.
