Æðµã´«Ã½'s Geospatial Engineering option in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is a critical field with an extensive curriculum. This option focuses on surveying, mapping, remote sensing, and related activities, utilizing advanced technologies such as global positioning systems (GPS) and 3D scanners to determine precise horizontal and vertical coordinates. Students are trained in designing and implementing geographical information systems (GIS), which are crucial for creating and managing geographically-based computer databases. The geospatial engineering option is part of a broader civil engineering program that emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning. Dr. Mehrad Kamalzare joined the civil engineering department as an Assistant Professor in 2016. Prior to that, he was a licensed professional engineer in New York and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University, teaching graduate level classes in geotechnical engineering. The Geospatial Engineering Option in the Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, , under the General Criteria, the Program Criteria for Civil and Similarly Named Engineering Programs, and the Program Criteria for Surveying and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
